A Church here to serve the communityThe Community Church takes its name seriously. Their "Community Action" programme states:
"As a church, we want to impact our local community. We seek to be relevant and love our community as shown by Jesus. The work of the Community Action Team (CAT) is not a substitute for preaching the gospel but it is a practical way of caring for others." There are at present 4 aspects to the programme (click the titles for full information) The Food Bank
The food bank is a local store of non-perishable food operated by volunteers from churches in and around Honiton. It is made available to those who are in ‘food crisis’. That is, they have no food and no money with which to buy food. Need is assessed by professionals from local agencies and local church leaders.
Many Hands
Many Hands aims to assist individuals both inside and outside the church with practical helps such as gardening, decorating, moving house and general DIY.
Walk the Talk
This is a community-based initiative that seeks to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support for people marginalised in society.
Debt Advice Service
We provide a free service, which is available to anyone needing help with managing their finances. From budgeting to bankruptcy we are here to assist. We are part of Community Money Advice, and Advice UK, which are organisations offering resources and support to debt advisers. We also hold a Consumer Credit License issued by The Office of Fair Trading.
